In Pursuit of a Lifelong Dream
Victor Dukuh
In 1998, Victor Dukuh and his family left Ghana, West Africa to work hard to achieve their piece of the American Dream. Settling in North Carolina, Victor, while working 12-hour shifts at night, began developing a plan to become a pilot. After he was laid off from his position at the manufacturing plant building parts for Ford trucks, his life changed.
“When I was laid off, instead of seeing it as a major blow, I chose to see it as an opportunity to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a pilot.” “I spent hours in my off-time practicing on the Microsoft Flight Simulator,” he recalled. “This software let me practice flying and landing different common aircrafts, and it showed me that I had the ability to actually do this.”
This allowed me to be better prepared when the time came for me to move on to the regional airlines,” said Dukuh.

This led him to enroll in an associate’s degree program at Guilford Technical Community College, located 15 min outside of Greensboro, North Carolina. After Graduation, Dukuh completed a flight instructor course, and was hired by Triad Aviation Academy. As an instructor, he continued to be mentored, gained a great deal of knowledge and experience helping others to achieve their aviation dream as well continue to build upon his flight hours.
